Every summer, Stockholm empties out. The people who know it best take to the water—out into the Stockholm archipelago, a scattering of thousands of islands stretching east into the Baltic Sea. Pine-covered islands and wooden jetties. Kayaks and sailing boats. Trails through forest that open suddenly onto the water. Summer days this far north run close to twenty hours of light.
Rindö is one of those archipelago islands—thirteen miles from the city, with its own waterfront restaurant, a grocery store, and a cheese maker. A free car ferry crosses to Vaxholm in five minutes, and from there a commuter boat runs directly into central Stockholm.
This villa sits on just over half an acre, with a separate guest house. The main house has one bedroom, an open living and kitchen space, and a second room that works as a study or extra sleeping space.
