Los Cabos is one of the world’s most desirable destinations…
It’s got a perfect climate where you get over 300 days of sunshine a year, but don’t need air con for most of it. (Temperatures here today are between 60 and 70 F.) And idyllic weather is only one of its many draws. You’ve also got incredible beaches, marinas and mountains…sensational fine dining…high-end malls…world-class golf courses…basically, every amenity you could ask for.
And it’s not just about Cabo itself. When you live here, there’s more on your doorstep than most people realize…
There are so many incredible towns to explore on the Baja California Sur peninsula. And Cabo is the perfect base from which to do that.
That’s why today I want to share some of the best ways to spend a day in the region. A rundown of my five favorite day trips from Cabo San Lucas…
Before we begin, a brief reminder…
Tomorrow, at 1 p.m. ET, I’m launching the new Real Estate Trend Alert members-only deal in Cabo.
This is a chance for members to own incredible ocean-view condos in a best-in-class community at RETA-only pricing and see expected gains of $175,400 just four years after delivery.
The deal opens in just 24 hours, tomorrow, Wednesday January 15th, at 1 p.m. ET. You need to be ready.
If you’re not yet a RETA member, learn how you can join here.
Now, my top day trips from Cabo San Lucas…
1. Sunday Brunch in Todos Santos
I like to start my Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and a stroll on the beach. Then I jump into the car and make the jaw-dropping drive to Todos Santos.
Todos Santos lies only an hour away from Cabo on the Pacific side of the peninsula. The road is quiet early in the day and the sparkling ocean stretches to the horizon on my left the whole way.
The town of Todos Santos itself is truly stunning, with amazing colonial architecture. It’s also set in a fertile pocket of the Baja. Take a stroll down the town’s cobbled lanes and you’ll find farm-to-table restaurants alongside art galleries and boutique stores.
In Todos Santos, I go straight to Oystera for a relaxing brunch, either with just my wife, Sayuri, or maybe with a group of friends.
Afterward, we’ll take a stroll around town, looking into the craft shops, and then head out to the beach for an afternoon stroll.
2. Visit Playa Santa Maria
The beach of Santa Maria is close to Cabo San Lucas and it’s an amazing place to spend a day. It lies a short drive northeast of the downtown area.
I like to get up early in the morning and pack my things…a cool box, a picnic, anything I might need… Then it’s time for a day at the beach: swimming, relaxing, snorkeling.
Santa Maria is a very social place. Lots of people drop in throughout the day as it’s close to town.
After a day at the beach here, we’ll pop into La Lupita for early evening tacos.
3. Do the Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo
Another great way to spend a day is to drive to San Jose del Cabo, taking a scenic route to the East Cape. It’s wild there…empty… This is a place to get in touch with nature and quiet all the noise of modern life.
I often take a walk along an East Cape beach. Bring your togs and take a dip in the sea. You can swim here, unlike on the Pacific side of the peninsula.
After a swim, I’ll head into San Jose del Cabo and stroll around town. I might take part in the Art Walk, a great introduction to the local art scene. Then I’ll have dinner in one of the great restaurants. There are plenty of choices around town.
4. Visit the Malecon and Big-Box Stores in La Paz
La Paz is a two-hour drive north of Cabo San Lucas. This city is the capital of Baja California Sur state. It has a lot of big-box shops and department stores. You can get things here that aren’t available in Cabo, so it’s a great place to do some shopping.
My wife and I love to go there early on a Sunday morning when it’s quiet. We’ll head to department stores like Liverpool and Sears to get whatever we need.
Afterwards we’ll take a walk along the magnificent malecon (seaside promenade) and enjoy some fresh shellfish in the marina. We’ll drive home in time for sunset drinks in our beach club.
5. Golf in Solmar
Another amazing day out is golfing at Solmar, formerly called Rancho San Lucas. For me, from my home in the Copala community in the Quivira Resort, this is a 15-minute drive, but for others this will be a day trip.
Solmar is set on a stretch of land a few miles along the Pacific from my home in Quivira. The ocean views here are nothing short of breathtaking. The giant dunes are jaw-dropping. One minute it reminds me of the great links coursers on the west coast of Ireland like Waterville and Ballybunion. The next minute you are playing inland toward cactus fields that stretch for as far as the eye can see.
It’s a joy to meet friends and play at a world-class, ocean-view golf course. After a bit of golf, I’ll meet my wife, Sayuri, at Picaro, which is in the same community. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Cabo—wonderful food, great atmosphere and more stunning ocean views…
As you can see, Cabo has a lot to offer as a base for day trips (and that’s not to mention the many things to do in Cabo itself)…
It’s a major reason I love owning here. And it’s one of the reasons demand for best-in-class real estate in this region is so incredible…and why I anticipated the handful of condos available in the upcoming RETA members only deal will be snapped up fast.
As I say, this deal opens in just 24 hours…at 1 p.m. ET tomorrow. And it’s truly incredible.
With this exclusive deal, RETA members will have the chance to own luxurious, two-bed ocean-view condos in a best-in-class community for unbelievable pricing. The planned amenities in this community are out-of-this world. Premium land is devoted to things like an ocean-view sky pool…a state-of-the-art ocean-view gym…an ocean-view co-work space…
And the location is incredible…close to the beaches, the art, the dining, the stores.
My team and I dug around listings in nice communities close by this opportunity. We found two-bed condos with ocean views, broadly the same size, were listing from $425,000 right up to $497,000!
Yet, due to the incredible connections and group-buying power of RETA, the members-only price for these luxury two-bed-two-bath condos is from just $304,600 for a spacious two-bed, two-bath condo with fantastic ocean views.
With this new deal, I expect gains of $175,400 just four years after delivery.
And that’s likely being very conservative. Just look at our RETA track record in Cabo…
This new Cabo deal is for RETA members only.
