Own a Dream Home in Tuscany for $285k

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Today, roses will be sent, Champagne corks will pop, and candlelight will flicker across dinner tables.

It’s a day that invites us to pause—to celebrate romance. And few destinations in the world can rival the romance of Tuscany.

Tuscany is a place where rolling vineyards, stone farmhouses, and medieval hill towns unfold under a golden Mediterranean light — the kind of landscape that makes you slow down and breathe deeper.

This can be a blue-chip market. Folks pay millions for estates in the hills here. But you’ll also find incredible bargains…when you know where to look.

In the coming weeks, my scout Ciaran Madden is heading there to dig into all of this…the bargains, the blue-chip luxury, the towns that offer real value and livability. Stay tuned. More on what he uncovers soon…

Today, I want to show you a home that captures the spirit of Tuscany and offers a compelling reminder of the value and romance to be found there…

The hills of Tuscany are dotted with beautifully dreamlike towns where you can live the rural Italian dream, rooted in a sense of history and tradition.

The Tuscan lifestyle is undeniably romantic. Just picture it…

Late-afternoon sun warms honey-colored stone walls. Cypress trees stand like quiet sentries on meandering roads. Soft green hills roll toward the horizon, stitched together by vineyards and silver-leafed olive groves. A shaded terrace and a glass of local wine. The only sounds are birdsong and the faint clink of plates being set for dinner at a neighboring farmhouse.

This is the Tuscany people dream about.

A property we recently shared on our Your Overseas Dream Home Instagram account captures that spirit perfectly…

A restored stone house that’s on the market for €240,000 (about $285,000).

For this, you get a restored 17th-century stone home with nearly seven acres in the heart of Chianti Classico—one of the world’s most enduring lifestyle regions. That’s a lot of bang for your buck, especially when you consider that in many parts of the U.S., that sum might not even get you a three-bedroom suburban home.

In fact, this house costs less than half the median price of a single-family home in New York (which is $586,400, according to Forbes).

Let’s dig in…

We recently shared this Tuscan house on our Your Overseas Dream Home Instagram account. Check out the post here.

This peaceful stone house dating from the 1600s stands beside a natural spring in Radda—a small, beautifully preserved medieval hilltown in the heart of Tuscany’s Chianti wine region—where a crystal-clear river winds through ancient woodlands.

The house sits at the source of the River Arbia—a waterway that flows south through the Tuscan hills—with direct access to tranquil bathing spots and walking trails along the banks.

It spans approximately 1,400 square feet across three levels.

A spiral wooden staircase connects the home’s levels, adding character, and a quiet reminder of the property’s historic origins.

The ground floor holds a hand-built Tuscan-style kitchen with pantry and bathroom.

The first floor offers a sitting room with a stove and a study leading to the upper level, where the main bedroom overlooks the gardens alongside a second bathroom and a mezzanine.

A separate lower entrance opens to a traditional storage room for bicycles and tools.

The house comes with 6.9 acres of land, including a garden wrapping three sides of the building. Mature trees shade a level lawn that extends to the riverbank.

Dating to the 1600s, this restored stone house sits beside a natural spring in the Chianti countryside.

Radda in Chianti sits in the heart of Chianti Classico, the historic wine-producing region between Florence and Siena where terraced vineyards climb hillsides dotted with medieval villages and Romanesque churches.

Siena, a medieval city known for its fan-shaped central square and annual horse race, lies 12 miles south, reached in under twenty minutes. Florence and its international airport sit 39 miles north, approximately forty minutes by car. Pisa’s international airport lies 66 miles west.

Spaces like this are part of Tuscany’s enduring appeal — simple, beautiful settings that continue to attract buyers from around the world.

This house highlights just how affordably you can get amazing lifestyle opportunities in attractive destinations in Europe.

Tuscany is one of those rare regions whose appeal has endured for generations, because the fundamentals have always been there. Beauty, culture, and a way of life that people return to again and again.

In fact, Tuscany is very much on our radar right now. As I say, one of my scouts, Ciaran Madden, editorial director of my Real Estate Trend Alert (RETA) group, is planning to put boots on the ground in the region soon in search of opportunity….

Stay tuned.
