On my way to Paraguay, I put boots on the ground in Panama City, where I met up with visionary developer, Alfredo Aleman.

Twenty years ago, he made one of the boldest real estate predictions I’ve ever heard. Back then, Panama City was still a regional backwater. The idea of building man-made islands in the Bay of Panama seemed outrageous. But Alfredo could see where Panama was going.
He mapped out the city’s growth. He identified the beaches that would one day become world-class communities. And he built Ocean Reef—a man-made island community that’s the most prestigious in the entire region.

Why do my team and I do all the scouting that we do?
It’s how we find the best real estate opportunities in the world.
For instance, back in 2023, I started talking about a small town in northern Portugal called Caminha. Few people had heard of it. And in late 2024, I bought a 5,000-square-foot historic mansion there for €410,000—which is still hard to believe.

In this short video, I’ll walk you through the front door, into the light-filled sitting room, the kitchen built for long lunches, and up to my office where the sea breeze comes in through the open windows. You’ll see exactly why this is the perfect home base… and why Caminha has been on my radar for years.
When I started writing about Caminha in 2023, it was completely off the radar of the foreign visitors and tourists coming to Portugal. But I could see that was about to change…
Now, Caminha is being discovered.
In 2023, there were five great and inexpensive homes for every buyer. Today, the ratio of buyers to great homes is more like 1:1…and things are heading fast for five buyers for every nice home.
Because of my scouting, RETA members have been getting in ahead here.
This week, my team talked to Tony and Emma Bennett who bought in Caminha.
Tony and Emma Bennett bought one property…but it ended up becoming two. So essentially they got two for the price of one. And having two properties opens up a world of possibilities: you can rent both out…rent out one and live in one…whatever you want.
Plus, they’ve been cashflow-positive from the start.
