But over the past two decades, it has been quietly transforming into a world city on that level—a center of finance and trade where global capital flows…multinationals base themselves…and serious wealth is being created.
I’ve been scouting it for more than 20 years. I made my first overseas investment in this city.
And I can tell you this story is far from finished. In fact, what we’ve seen so far is just the first phase of a much bigger transformation.
This is Panama City—the emerging “Singapore of the Americas.”

Panama shouldn’t be as important as it is. It’s a small country with just over 4 million people.
But it sits at a key crossroads of global trade.
The Panama Canal is one of the world’s great trading arteries, linking the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
Around $270 billion in goods passes through it every year., including about 40% of all U.S. container traffic.
This is one of the most critical pieces of infrastructure on the planet. But for most of the 20th century, Panama didn’t fully benefit from it.
The United States built the canal and controlled it until 1999.
Then it was handed back to Panama. And that’s when everything changed.
It’s when the real story of modern Panama begins…

P.S. My Real Estate Trend Alert (RETA) group has been ahead of Panama City’s transformation with incredible deals on best-in-class luxury real estate. Here are two examples…
In September 2018 RETA members could buy two-bed, two-and-a-half-bath condos in Ocean House within the 700-acre gated master-planned community of Santa Maria with exclusive pricing starting from $238,200. Today, one is listed for $410,000. That’s an uplift of $171,800.
RETA members who bought in Ipanema—the sail-shaped twin towers on the last prime waterfront land in the city—have also seen big and rapid uplifts.
