What Makes Caminha So Special?

I’m back at my desk in Cork, Ireland. A month of unbroken sunshine has left us for cooler weather, blustery and showery. Or…business as usual.

For now, my neighbors look at their garden and sigh…

“Ah…the drop of rain was badly needed…”

But soon it will become a matter of national importance that the sunny weather returns. I know how that feels. The winters here are long…bleak, dark, and depressing.

At this point, I actually enjoy the rainy days. It’s because I spend those winter months in Cabo…almost every day is in the 70s F, sunny, and with low humidity.

So, when I come to spend summer in Ireland, I arrive with sunshine in the bank.

Topping up on the sunshine in Cabo during winter means I arrive in Ireland able to enjoy some of the inevitable rainy days…

Portugal is my home base in the spring and the fall.

By organizing my life like this, I get to always enjoy my idea of perfect weather. But I’m in the middle of a Portugal move…from the Silver Coast to the far north. So far north that my cell phone thinks I’m in Spain…

As you know, I spent the early part of this week in Caminha.

In an hour, I’m jumping on a video call with RETA Senior Researcher Margaret Summerfield. We’ll take a deep dive on my findings…

There’s a lot to unpack…so many interesting stories I could tell. But I want to cut to the chase here because the window is closing on our opportunity to buy like I have in this incredible place.

The medieval town of Caminha boasts incredible history and culture. This is a vibrant and increasingly upmarket destination. And as I predicted, Caminha now is being discovered…

So…here’s what I really want to drill on with Margaret:

  • What makes Caminha so special. Beyond the beaches, the medieval town, the wine country…what is Caminha’s X Factor. Why am I establishing a base here? (After all, I already have a Portuguese base that I love)
  • Is it possible for a foreigner to remotely manage a renovation project here? What I’m doing and how I’m doing it.
  • Examples of properties currently available and my real-time reaction to them.

This won’t be a polished presentation. This will be a real and unvarnished assessment of my two-year journey to date in Portugal’s far north.

Tomorrow I’ll share my conversation with Margaret with you. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning in Portugal, tomorrow’s video is essential viewing. Stay tuned…

Sunsets looking toward the lagoon from the medieval town of Caminha are magical.

Wishing you good real estate investing,

P.S. Check out this video, which I recorded on a previous visit, of the incredible walk to Caminha’s Atlantic beach…
