From Portugal’s northern coast, let’s cross the water to the wild west of Ireland…
Connemara is Ireland at its most elemental.
Mountains rise above open bog and woodland. Stone walls trace the valleys. Narrow roads wind toward the Atlantic, while the light changes by the minute as clouds move across lakes and hills.
Near the village of Maam, less than 500 feet from Lough Corrib, stands The Rectory—a five-bed country house set on 1.1 acres.
It’s beautifully situated.
From the nearby public pier, you could set out onto one of Ireland’s great fishing lakes. Spend your days walking in the Maamturk Mountains…following the Western Way through the valley…or driving west toward Connemara’s beaches.

For a decade I’ve been hunting for the right way to play Africa—a continent with the fastest-growing population and one of the fastest-growing economies on earth, but riddled with the rule-of-law issues that keep most investors away. Morocco is different. Quietly, it’s become the manufacturing capital, the financial capital, and the tourism capital of the continent. I’m poring over the data now, and my team’s first boots-on-the-ground trip is being planned.
And a contact is headed to Nairobi, Kenya. He’ll be reporting back on what he finds. East Africa’s commercial hub, a young population, a growing professional class—I can’t wait to see what he turns up.
