Collestatte, Umbria, Italy: €160,00

The Valnerina is a deep valley carved by the river Nera, winding through wooded gorges and hilltop villages in the heart of Umbria. At its center is the Marmore Falls—a 540-foot cascade engineered by the Romans in 271 BC and later described by Lord Byron as “horribly beautiful.”

Collestatte sits on a hill directly above the falls, looking out across the valley. This Art Nouveau house, dating from the late nineteenth century, stands opposite the village church and overlooks the square. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms across two floors. The ground floor has a kitchen, a sitting room, and another room that could be used as a bedroom or study. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms. There is a private courtyard at the entrance with an original wooden door, and a terrace of 390 sq. ft.

Rome is around an hour and a half by road. Both the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic coasts are under two hours.
