The stunning towns and cities north of Portugal’s second city of Porto boast incredible soft-sand beaches…rich history and culture…and stunning food and architecture—basically, all the elements that make destinations to the south so appealing.
But they are virtually unknown to foreign tourists, expats, and second home owners. And because of this, prices in these towns and cities are astonishingly affordable.
This is Portugal’s “undiscovered north.”
This stunning region has flown under the radar for generations, but now that’s beginning to change. This region is starting to be discovered. And I anticipate prices will soar.
That’s why I bought a home here…in a town called Caminha. My team and I recently named Caminha the best place in Europe to buy real estate in 2026. Today, I want to share a clip about Caminha that I’ve posted to my YouTube channel. It’s taken from a private briefing I prepared for members of my Real Estate Trend Alert (RETA) group. Click below to view the video. Then join me in the comments where I’m answering your questions…
The town of Caminha sits on Portugal’s northern border with Spain. Although prices are rising here, Caminha still offers incredible value compared to popular coastal destinations to the south.
In the video, I explain…
- Why I chose Caminha for my most recent home and base in Portugal
- How real estate prices here stack up…and how they’ve been ticking higher as Caminha is discovered
- Why Caminha’s geography is an integral part of the town’s desirability
And when you’re done watching the video, I want to hear from you…
Drop your thoughts, ideas and suggestions in the YouTube comments—I read them all, and I’ll be replying to any questions.

Here’s a question I got on my recent video about an incredible Caribbean island where it’s possible to own a condo for just $16,000. Check out the comments on the video here for my answer.
And I got this comment from another viewer:
