VIDEO: Why Uruguay Feels Like Portugal Before the Boom

Tiny Uruguay rarely makes international headlines…

But in a region known for coups, protests, turmoil and instability, that’s a good thing.

Uruguay’s stability and prosperity over many decades—along with its easy residency options and favorable tax policies—have made it a renowned safe haven where some of the world’s richest folks like to own homes and park their wealth.

The most sought-after coastal stretch in Uruguay begins in the glamorous resort city of Punta del Este. Often called the Monaco or St. Tropez of South America, Punta del Este attracts celebrities, billionaires, yacht owners, and some of the wealthiest families in Latin America.

In recent decades as Punta became busier, the wealthy began looking for space and privacy. One place they found it was in a coastal town to the east…a place of dusty roads and laid-back charm.

Right now, this quiet enclave is beginning to evolve into something much bigger…

I’ve just released my video deep-dive on it in the new episode of The Ronan McMahon Report.

Click below to watch it now. And when you’re done, share your thoughts or questions in the comments. My team and I read them all.

In this new deep-dive on my YouTube channel, I take you to an understated beach town in Uruguay. Click to view…

The town is La Barra, located about 15 minutes east of Punta del Este.

Cross the famous “wave bridge” over the Maldonado creek and the atmosphere changes immediately.

The towers shrink. The pace slows. And the coastline turns wild and beautiful—long stretches of golden-sand beach…windswept dunes…and rolling Atlantic surf.

This place feels more like coastal California or parts of Australia than what most people imagine South America looks like.

Nestled in its modest buildings behind low-key facades, you’ll find designer boutiques, contemporary art galleries, and incredible fine-dining restaurants.

Some of the wealthiest people in South America own homes here.

For decades, Punta del Este and La Barra were highly seasonal destinations. Now that’s changing…

Watch my new video to learn:

  • How a town of dusty roads, surf cafés, and low-rise buildings became one of the most exclusive enclaves in South America…and how it’s transforming from a summer playground into a true year-round lifestyle destination…
  • The two main ways I’d look to own in and around La Barra today…
  • From entry-level apartments to a $16 million estate, how much it costs to own here…

It’s all in my new video.

Watch my full deep-dive on La Barra now.

Wishing you good real estate investing,
