Three stone houses. Rolling countryside. A swimming pool overlooking a valley.
Just outside the village of Daglan, in France’s Dordogne region, an estate of three restored houses sits on nearly 1.5 acres of land with views toward a local château.
The houses have private terraces, independent entrances, and the flexibility to accommodate extended family or guests.
And the entire estate is on the market for a price that may surprise you…

To step back for a moment…
France remains one of the world’s great dream-home destinations.
People are drawn here by the food, wine, history, architecture, and slower pace of life. From the lavender fields of Provence to the vineyards of Bordeaux and the villages of the Dordogne, the country offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes and lifestyles.
Many people assume owning property in France must be out of reach.
In Paris and along the French Riviera, prices are certainly high. But there are still places where beautiful stone homes, historic farmhouses, and even small estates can be bought for relatively modest sums.
A property we recently shared on our Your Overseas Dream Home Instagram account is a prime example…
An estate on the market for €549,000 (about $637,300).
That buys you three separate houses, a heated pool, and nearly 1.5 acres of land. That’s a lot of property for your money, especially when you consider that in many parts of the U.S., that sum might not even get you a three-bedroom suburban home. This property is listed for less than the median price of a single-family home in Washington (which is $644,300 according to Forbes.)
Let’s dig in…
The property includes a heated 30-foot-by-16-foot swimming pool with views across a valley.
Situated just outside the village of Daglan, in the southwest corner of France, this estate consists of three renovated stone houses spanning around 2,700 square feet.
The houses sit on a plot of around 64,000 square feet, with views across the valley toward a local château and the rolling countryside beyond.
Built in the traditional style of the region, the houses feature honey-colored stone walls, steep tiled roofs, exposed timber beams, and private terraces overlooking the surrounding landscape.
The setting reflects many of the features for which the Dordogne is known—wooded hills, quiet country lanes, and scattered stone villages.
Each of the houses has its own terrace and independent entrance.
Inside, every house includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living area, and a kitchen with dining space.
Private terraces mean you can enjoy the views and outdoor lifestyle that draw so many people to this part of France.
A converted barn provides additional space for an office, workshop, or storage. Elsewhere on the grounds is a laundry room and a carport.
Exposed beams give the interiors classic Dordogne character.
The estate lies in the Périgord Noir, one of the best-known parts of France’s Dordogne region, named for its dense oak forests, which appear almost black from a distance. Stone villages, walnut orchards, and limestone cliffs line the river valleys here.
In summer, weekly markets fill the medieval bastide towns with local produce and crafts. Daglan sits quietly among the wooded hills here—a small village of stone houses gathered around a central square.
Sarlat-la-Canéda, the region’s best-preserved medieval town, is around 15 minutes away by road. And Bergerac Airport, serving routes to the U.K. and several European cities, is around 45 minutes away. Despite its peaceful setting, the property remains well connected.
Three renovated stone houses. A heated pool. Views across the Dordogne countryside toward a château. A base in one of France’s best-known countryside regions.
And all for less than the price of the median home in Washington.
Properties like this are a reminder that some of Europe’s most attractive lifestyle destinations can still offer remarkable value if you know where to look.
