The luxurious master-planned enclave of Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic is a world unto itself.
Turquoise waters. White-sand beaches. Five-star resorts. A glamorous marina. Championship golf. An equestrian center. You could live here full-time and never feel the need to venture beyond its gates.
And yet…
When you do step outside, you’ll find that some of the Dominican Republic’s most dazzling experiences are just a day trip away.
From ancient colonial streets to jungle waterfalls, island escapes to European-style beach towns, here are five unforgettable excursions—all within reach of Cap Cana.
We’ll dig into these amazing day trips in just a moment…first I need to let you in on something urgent.
Something you need to know today…

The new RETA opportunity in Cap Cana opens tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET. This is a chance to own in the luxurious Azul Garden community, just minutes’ walk from stunning Juanillo Beach.
The new Real Estate Trend Alert (RETA) deal in Cap Cana opens in just 27 hours, at 1 p.m. ET tomorrow, offering RETA members the chance to own in this incredible destination.
This is a RETA-only deal…but you still have just enough time to join RETA and take part in the deal…Click here to join. But hurry!
This opportunity is in a community called Azul Garden. Not only are the condos set over a stunning lagoon, a short stroll from the beach, but the amenities will give you and your renters the five-star lifestyle: a rooftop pool and lounge, a gym with lagoon views, a lakefront sports deck, a buzzing social terrace, and some of the most in-demand pickleball and paddle courts in the Caribbean…
The RETA-only price is from just $380,400. That gets you a luxurious two-bed, two-and-a-half bath condo with lagoon views. (Check out the stunning render below.) I expect five years after delivery our condos will be worth $700,000. That’s a gain of $319,600. And conservative at that.

Every condo available to us in Azul Garden is a screaming RETA deal and all will have stunning lagoon views.
I figure gross yields of nearly 12% renting short-term once Azul Garden is established and that’s a silly conservative prediction.
There isn’t much time left…but you can still join RETA and prepare for when the deal opens…
Now: back to the day trips you can take when you have a base in Cap Cana…beginning with the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo.
Travel Back in Time in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Zone
Two to three hours’ drive west of Cap Cana lies Santo Domingo, the oldest European settlement in the Americas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Santo Domingo is connected to Cap Cana with the 2012 Coral Highway.
Wander pedestrian-only Calle El Conde, a lively promenade lined with shops, cafés, art galleries, and colonial-era architecture.
Visit the Catedral Primada de América, the first cathedral in the New World.
Explore Alcázar de Colón, a historic palace that holds the distinction of being the first fortified European palace in the Americas. It was once home to Christopher Columbus’s son.

Beyond its beautiful beaches, the Dominican Republic has a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the capital, Santo Domingo.
The Colonial Zone is alive with rooftop bars, jazz clubs, and candlelit courtyards serving Dominican fusion cuisine.
Compact and walkable, it’s perfect for a day spent dining and exploring at your own pace.

Smooth, traffic-free highways make getting to the capital of Santo Domingo to explore the historic colonial center a breeze.
Sail Away to Saona Island’s Pristine Shores
Saona Island looks Photoshopped—but it’s real.
Part of the protected Cotubanamá National Park, which covers 162 square miles, this island escape offers white-sand beaches, turquoise shallows, and untouched palm groves. You won’t see high-rises or crowds—just nature at its Caribbean best.

No filter needed—this is the true color of the sea at Saona Island.
Most day trips include a speedboat or catamaran ride with a stop at a natural ocean pool where you can sip rum cocktails waist-deep in the sea.
Once on land, snorkel coral reefs, explore mangroves, or dine on grilled seafood with your toes in the sand. The area is home to 112 bird species and you may also see manatees and iguanas.
Fun fact: Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed here—and it’s easy to see why.

Soak up the sun onboard a catamaran or jump in a speedboat at Saona Island. It’s cinematic—no wonder it’s been used in many film productions.
Hike Through Jungle-covered Mountains and Discover Stunning Waterfalls
A world away from the coast, the highlands of Jarabacoa offer a totally different side of the Dominican Republic.
Three hours inland, pine forests, cool breezes, and mountain waterfalls replace palm trees and sea spray.
This is the country’s adventure capital—ideal for hiking, white-water rafting, and canyoning.

Although the Dominican Republic is famous for its beaches, it also has a stunningly beautiful and verdant interior.
Follow trails to Salto de Jimenoa, a 131-foot cascade plunging into a natural pool. You can reach it by passing over a series of swaying suspension bridges.
Or take a narrow, cliffside trail and descend a wooden staircase into the beach and natural pool of Salto de Baiguate, surrounded by orchids and ferns.
Cap it all off with a cup of local coffee from a mountainside plantation and a picnic under the canopy. A day here will refresh your senses—and remind you just how diverse the Dominican Republic really is.

The Dominican Republic offers diverse landscapes to explore, including the Salto de Baiguate waterfall near Jarabacoa town.
Escape to Boho-Chic Las Terrenas
On the Samana Peninsula, three or four hours north of Cap Cana, Las Terrenas offers a laid-back, bohemian vibe unlike anywhere else in the Dominican Republic.
I think of it as my favourite French beach town…
That’s because French and Italian expats have brought their own flavor to this beach town—think beachfront bistros, artisan markets, handmade gelato, and rustic-chic boutiques.

On the Dominican Republic’s northern coast, Las Terrenas is a low-key beach paradise.
The beaches—Playa Bonita, Playa Cosón, Playa Las Ballenas—are long, wide, and blissfully uncrowded.
Spend the day browsing handmade crafts, sipping sangria, and soaking up the relaxed, Euro-Caribbean rhythm.
A road trip here delivers culture, cuisine, and coastal beauty in equal measure.

The beachfront in Las Terrenas is the perfect place to watch the water in the shade of swaying palm trees.
Shop and Cool off at Blue Mall Punta Cana
Not every day trip has to involve a long drive or hiking boots.
Less than 10 minutes from Cap Cana, Blue Mall Punta Cana is a sleek, air-conditioned haven of style and comfort.

Although most expats in the Dominican Republic live on the beach, they avail of the shopping and other services in the larger towns and cities sprinkled around the country.
Browse the big brands. Grab a cappuccino at a gourmet café. Catch a movie or relax at the rooftop cocktail bar.
Whether it’s a rainy afternoon or a lazy Sunday, Blue Mall is a sophisticated urban escape—and a great way to mix up your beach routine.

Blue Mall is a modern, international-style mall where you can chill out, take a break from the beach, and shop in air-conditioned bliss.
As you can see, owning a condo in Cap Cana means more than just beach days and luxury amenities. It’s also a springboard to adventure.
The appeal of Cap Cana lies in its accessibility, variety, and year-round desirability—factors that make it easy to rent out when you’re not using it and easy to resell when you’re ready for your next chapter.
Here, you’re not just buying a home—you’re buying access to the best the Dominican Republic has to offer.
As I say, there’s still time to prepare for the new Azul Garden deal here…but time is getting tight. There’s only 27 hours to go…And I think these condos will fly. After all:
- It took me 12 years of scouting to land our first-ever Cap Cana deal…I bought there myself.
- Now, we have our second—and it’s extraordinary—called Azul Garden.
- The RETA-only price is from just $380,400. That gets you a luxurious two-bed, two-and-a-half bath condo of 1,074 square feet including a spacious 193-square-foot terrace and lagoon views.
- I expect five years after delivery our condos will be worth $700,000.
- That’s a gain of $319,600. And conservative at that.
- Cap Cana is one of the Caribbean’s elite luxury destinations and our price is nuts. All around us are luxury resorts and high-end real estate priced into the millions of dollars. Condos farther away from the beach than Azul Garden list for well over $400,000…$500,000 and up.
- You’re just 10 minutes from Punta Cana airport…where millions of people are arriving
- I figure on gross yields of nearly 12% renting short-term once Azul Garden is established and that’s a silly conservative prediction.
There isn’t much time left…but you can still join RETA and prepare for when the deal opens…
Wishing you good real estate investing,

P.S. As I say, I bought here myself last September when I brought members of my RETA group an exclusive, RETA-only opportunity just steps from stunning Juanillo Beach in Cap Cana
I can’t wait spend time here, to stroll those white sands…swim in that warm azure water…play golf on that Jack Nicklaus course…
And I think the new deal I’m about to bring to members of my RETA group at Azul Garden is just as good…
Take a short video tour of Azul Garden using the developer’s renders. Our RETA-only price from $380,400 is just unbelievable. Two-bed condos close by in the planned Juanillo Village are set to list from at least $600,000. I think I’m being conservative expecting our condos to be worth $700,000 five years after delivery. (Developer’s renders shouldn’t be considered final but give us a great idea of what to expect.)
