The temperatures are dropping here in Europe. That’s the sign for me to move on…
I have left Caminha. As you read this, I’ll be zipping across the Spanish countryside at 182 miles per hour. The high-speed train from Ourense to Segovia takes just two hours and 14 minutes.
I’ll spend tomorrow pounding the pavements of Segovia…and on Sunday I take the direct Madrid to Guadalajara flight.
As I say goodbye to Europe until late spring, I want to share this note I just got from a member of my Real Estate Trend Alert (RETA) group, who bought here in Portugal after reading my research.
That decision to take action has proved to be life-changing…
Sunset at my office in Caminha last week—moments like these remind me why I chose this place.
Here’s the note I got:
This is Eros P. I’m a RETA lifetime member and I’ve been following you for years now. I love your work and really admire the business you created.
I was a general contractor in Marin County, California before moving to Caminha. Last year I went down to the Mayan Riviera and almost bought a condo in Bacalar. Just at that point you started posting a lot about Caminha and I thought I better check out Portugal before committing to Mexico. You posted an amazing mansion for sale and I wanted it. I got a realtor and got “pre approved” for a loan with a Portuguese bank. That process of course took too long and by the time I got to Caminha, the awesome mansion wasn’t on the market anymore. I came to find out later that you bought it.
I looked at a bunch of places for sale and bought a sweet house in Moledo. Along with my wife and 2 daughters, we went through the immigration process and finally were able to move in last month. We are so happy to have made the decision and love our house, our town, and the whole area. Thank for you helping us to do this. Without all the work you do and your relentless pursuit of the next best place, we wouldn’t have been able to find this incredible place that we can now call home. Thank you!
We started a Portuguese real estate company called “Spacious”. We are registered, licensed, insured and ready to help foreigners find a place in the area. If they just want an investment home or only be here part time, we will property manage it for them while they’re gone. We can help with renovations as well. I saw that you renovated your mansion very nicely already, but if you ever need any advice on further restorations, I’m happy to give you my two cents. I am building relationships with local contractors and tradesmen and I have a lifetime of experience with fine woodwork, something that is a bit of a “lost art” here.
Ronan, we are neighbors, I know you are a busy guy, but next time you are in Caminha and you have an extra moment, it would be great to meet you for a coffee or beer and thank you for helping my family and I find the next chapter in our lives. I would also love to tell you about my adventures living in Ghana and how I acquired a big chunk of amazing tropical beach land there that is ripe for a development project.
With respect and appreciation,
Eros P
Wow, what a wonderful note!
Eros, thank you for sharing your story and welcome to the region.
This reminds me why I love what I do. To help folks like you and your family change your lives, find your dream home, and start a brand-new chapter.
I’ve left my Caminha home and will soon head across the Atlantic to Mexico…
This is the true power of RETA.
Yes, the numbers matter. Yes, the uplifts and income potential are extraordinary. But at the heart of it all are stories like this—people who follow our scouting, who take action, and who end up with a better life.
I’m grateful for the feedback and delighted to hear that you’re thriving in Portugal. And I look forward to that coffee or beer next time I’m in Caminha.
Wishing you good real estate investing,
P.S. RETA members get my full research and analysis as well as access to the incredible off-market deals I negotiate on their behalf, using group buying power to lock in incredible prices for best-in-class real estate. The ordinary investor (who’s not in RETA) usually only hears about these deals years later…if at all. Like Wednesday’s deal in San Jose del Cabo.
